A woman living in isolation in Kerala has accused a health worker of rape. Police said the accused is a junior health inspector at the Primary Health Center. He has been arrested on Monday. He said that a case has been registered against him under Section 376 of the Indian Penal Code.
A day before the case came to light, a 19-year-old girl was allegedly raped by an Abenlus driver. The victim was being taken to the Kovid care center at Pandalam in Pathanamthitta district on Saturday midnight.
A 44-year-old woman who worked as a home nurse in Malappuram had recently returned to her home in Kulathupuzha, a police officer from Pangode police station said. The health inspector asked him to remain in isolation.
Police said he also underwent an antigen test that came negative. The person asked him to take the investigation certificate from his flat.
The woman alleged in her complaint that she went to the accused’s house on September 3 and was raped with a rope and allowed to leave the next day. Meanwhile, the Women’s Commission has registered a case against the health inspector taking suo moto cognizance and asked the state health secretary to take disciplinary action against her.
Condemning the incident, Leader of the Opposition in the assembly Ramesh Chennithala said that the two incidents of rape are causing states to face embarrassment.
