The Government of India has announced the results of Swachh Survekshan 2020 and Indore has once again won. Indore has also topped this year in the Swachh Survekshan 2020 released by the government. Indore was at the top for the last three years and this is its fourth consecutive year. Four times this kind of survey has been done before.
A total of 129 cities were awarded awards in this program named ‘Swachh Mahotsav’ organized by the Union Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs. It was earlier reported that Prime Minister Narendra Modi will announce the results of ‘Swachh Survekshan 2020’ related to cleanliness in cities across the country, but today he could not participate in this program virtually.
Mysuru won the cleanest city title in India in the first edition of the survey, while Indore topped it for three consecutive years (2017,2018,2019). This year also, Indore has won the title of winning the top for the fourth consecutive year.
During this survey which lasted about a month, one crore 70 lakh citizens have registered on the cleanliness app. More than 110 million people joined it on social media. More than five and a half lakh sanitation workers have been associated with social welfare schemes and 21 thousand such places have been identified where there is a high probability of finding garbage. Housing and Urban Affairs Minister Hardeep Singh Puri along with mayors, corporation commissioners and other stakeholders from various cities will participate in the event.
