Former Indian bowler Javagal Srinath recently spoke to Ravichandran Ashwin, calling former Indian captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni a ‘yogi’. On Ashwin’s YouTube channel DRS with Ash, Srinath said that Dhoni is a yogi in cricket. Mahendra Singh Dhoni abruptly quit international cricket on the evening of 15 August this year. Dhoni wrote on his Instagram, “Thank you for your love and support so far. Consider me retired from 7.29 pm. “Dhoni is currently in the UAE for IPL 2020.

Javagal Srinath said, “The way Dhoni understands the game and keeps away from winning. The way he talks after every win. Even after winning the trophy, there is a neutrality on his face. Even when things are not favorable on the pitch, their connection with the body is done as if nothing has happened. Only a yogi can do all this.

He added, “He is a great cricketer. The more you cut yourself from the game, let your senses relax, the better it is for you. Dhoni is the master of all this. He has immense respect for sports in his mind.

During this interview, Srinath also recalled his first meeting with Dhoni. The meeting was held in a tri-series between India, Kenya and Pakistan. Since then Srinath became his fan. He told, “I always had a great conversation with Dhoni, before and even now. There was never any controversy even as a match referee. He used to ask questions.

“I first met him in Kenya in 2003,” Srinath said. When my career was over. There was a tri-series between Pakistan, Kenya and India. Along with the league matches, the finals were not won unanimously by Dhoni. The way he played fast bowlers and spinners in the end, it seemed as if some school was playing cricket. I was so thrilled that immediately after the match ran to the dressing room and said to Dhoni … I am a tremendous fan of yours .. I wish him all the best. As I said, he is a yogi of cricket.
