The Working Mechanism for Consultation and Coordination (WMCC) set up to resolve the India-China border dispute is scheduled to meet today. In this meeting, LAC in East Ladakh will be discussed to reduce tensions between the two countries and to withdraw troops.
The seventeenth meeting of the WMCC was held last month, with both countries agreeing that troops along the Line of Actual Control (LAC) would withdraw as quickly and completely. According to bilateral agreements and protocols, migration from India-China border areas will increase. Let me tell you that complete restoration of peace and tranquility was necessary for the smooth overall development of bilateral relations.
The WMCC talks are chaired by Joint Secretary level officials from both sides. China has not withdrawn troops in the Finger Area, Depsang Plains and Gogra after several rounds of military and diplomatic negotiations.
Chinese soldiers have been encamped in the Finger area for three months now and have even started strengthening their bases with the construction of bunkers.
India has said that it expects China to work faithfully for full withdrawal of troops with LAC in eastern Ladakh and complete restoration of peace and tranquility in the border areas as well as de-escalation.
