On the occasion of 74th Independence Day, Sports Minister Kiren Rijiju launched the Fit India Youth Club Campaign to promote fitness across the country. The Fit India Youth Club campaign, launched under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s Fit India program, aims to spread awareness among youth about fitness.
With this, 75 lakh volunteers, scouts and guides, NCC and other youth organizations of Nehru Yuva Kendra Sangathan and Rashtriya Seva Yojana are associated with it. According to Sports Authority of India (SAI), under the guidance of the district unit, every member of the club will encourage people to give 30 to 60 minutes of daily fitness activity.
In addition, the club will organize a community fitness program every quarter with schools and local bodies. Rijiju said that only a fit citizen can contribute for the country at the time of need. There are one billion 300 million people in India and we have 7.5 million volunteers. This figure will reach 10 million soon.
