Air India Express aircraft carrying 190 people from Dubai under the Vande Bharat Mission between Corona crashed on the Kozhikode runway in Kerala and caused a major accident. A total of 20 people, including the pilot, were killed in the incident, while several passengers were injured. After slipping on the runway, the aircraft fell into a ditch about 50 feet deep in the valley adjacent to the airport and broke into two.
The Civil Aviation Ministry said that flight number IX 1344, operated from Dubai by B737, slipped on the runway at Kozhikode at 7.41 pm on Friday. ‘There is no news of a fire at the time of landing.’ The ministry said, the aircraft had 184 passengers, including 10 newborns, two pilots and four crew members.

Youth queues to donate blood
– Many youths were seen queuing up for blood donation at Government Medical College Kozhikode. The hospital had last night requested people to help in the treatment of Air India Express plane crash victims.
Services were temporarily suspended at Kozhikode Airport
– Services at Kozhikode Airport have been temporarily suspended. All incoming flights have been flown to Kannur and Cochin international airports.
123 people injured in Kerala plane crash
123 out of 190 people aboard Air India Express Calicut aircraft were injured. A special team has been formed for the post-mortem of the dead, after which the bodies will be removed. Kovid-19 Test will also be conducted.
Brave people telling safe pilot
– The survivors of the Kerala plane crash say that “brave pilots and vigilant locals avert a much bigger tragedy.” People reached the spot for help and evacuated the passengers. However it was a rescue aircraft in which he flew, ignoring smoke and minor fire.
