A meeting between Union Health Minister Harsh Vardhan and a delegation of resident doctors of various hospitals was held in New Delhi on Friday.
He appealed to the Dr to end their strike keeping in mind the inconvenience it is causing to the pateints. He assured the striking doctors that the NMC bill is a step taken in the right direction and in nations interest.
He also decided to address the questions that the doctors had for the bill in detail. The doctors have been protesting over various aspects of the Bill.
On Thursday, Rajya Sabha had passed the National Medical Commission Bill for replacing the corruption-plagued MCI with a new body, in what was described by the government as one of the biggest reforms for medical education in the country.
The bill will now go to Lok Sabha again as two amendments need to be approved by it.
