The counting of votes in the Jammu and Kashmir civic polls was completed with the BJP emerging as the largest party in the Jammu province by winning 212 seats. While Congress won 110 seats and Independent won 185 seats.
BJP emerges as largest party in Jammu, Rajouri, Kathua, Udhampur and Reasi district.
In Jammu region, BJP has won 92 seats followed by 34 seats won by Independent candidates. BJP got 23 seats in Rajouri while Congress won 20 seats.
Meanwhile, BJP won 4 seats in Poonch district.
In Kathua civic polls, BJP scored 34 seats whereas Congress won 19 seats and Independent candidates got 27 seats. In Kashmir valley, BJP grabbed 97 seats.
PM Modi thanks people of J&K for their support to BJP
Prime Minister Narendra Modi thanked the people of Jammu and Kashmir for their support to the BJP in the urban local body elections.
He assured the people of the state that the Party will work hard to fulfill the aspirations of the state’s youth and serve the state with utmost diligence.
Prime Minister also congratulated the Jammu and Kashmir BJP workers for their stupendous efforts in the local body polls.
Prime Minister said that BJP workers reached out to every section of society and explained the Party’s development agenda to people of the state.
